Patient Information

Appointments
The doctors at the Medical Hub see patients via appointment only. We will endeavour to get you in with a GP at the earliest convenience. We also offer emergency appointments for on-the-day consultations, subject to availability.
If you anticipate needing a follow-up appointment, we recommend booking it during your current visit to ensure you're seen within the appropriate timeframe and with your preferred doctor.
Please be aware that only one patient can be seen in a standard 15-minute consultation.

Longer Appointments
If you need a heavy vehicle medical, an insurance medical or report, a review of a complex medical condition, counselling for emotional difficulties, a second opinion on your current medical management, or treatment for wounds, you will need to book a longer consultation. This ensures there is enough time to properly address your health concerns.

As a new patient, you will also need to book a longer appointment to allow your GP sufficient time to review your medical history and discuss your health needs.

If you are aware of the nature of your appointment, please let the admin staff know when booking. This allows them to schedule the appropriate appointment length. Additionally, if a procedure is required during your visit, please be aware that you will need a longer appointment to accommodate it.
Please remember to bring any necessary paperwork with you.

Delays/Waiting Times
Even with our very best intentions, sometimes we can run late. This is usually due to someone requiring unexpected urgent medical care. If the delay is only short, the amazing reception team — Steph K, Michael, Rachel, Katrina, and Steph J — will inform you on your arrival. Should the delay be more significant, the reception team will call advising of the delay and an updated time to come in.
We assure you that if delays do occur, the GP will not rush in order to catch up. You will still be given your full allocated time.
Pathology
SA Pathology is conveniently located in the building
Monday-Friday 9am-5pm

Account Information
We bulk bill all patients with Medicare.

If you do not have Medicare, please note that we are a private practice and operate with a 'pay on the day' policy. After your consultation, we will provide you with a receipt that you can submit to your private health insurer for reimbursement, if you have private health coverage.

Please note that our fees are derived from the Australian Medical Association (AMA)

Care Plans
A care plan helps individuals with chronic conditions such as diabetes, COPD, and cardiovascular issues by providing an organised approach to their care. These plans are typically suggested by your GP.

Initial or redo care plans are completed with the care plan nurse on Wednesdays and Thursdays, with a final sign-off by your GP.
Please allow 1.5 hours for an initial or redo care plan preparation. During this time, any required allied health GPCCMPs will also be arranged.
Care plan reviews can be scheduled any day and involve a 30-minute appointment with the nurse, followed by a consultation with your GP. Please ensure you bring your care plan folder to each review appointment.

Please note that care plans can only be completed once within a 365-day cycle, regardless of how many practices you attend. Reviews can only be done once every 90 days.

Care plans and reviews are fully covered by Medicare.

Interpreter
The doctors of the medical hub are registered with the Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS). This enables us to be able to provide interpreters for a large variety of languages. Please inform the receptionist of your language when you arrive for your appointment.

After Hours
If you require an emergency appointment after our practice hours, please contact Bordertown Hospital at 08 8752 9000. The on-call doctor will be available to assist you if needed.

Cancellations/Did Not Attend
We understand that sometimes cancellations are unavoidable. If possible, please provide us with 24 hours' notice. This allows us to offer the appointment to another patient.

Referred Costs
Occasionally you may be referred to outside agencies such as Benson Radiology, SA Pathology or specialist doctors for investigations or specialist treatment/ opinion. Please note that majority of these will require you to pay an out of pocket cost to the agency. Please contact the agency to find out what costs may apply.

Results
Once your test results arrive back at the practice, they will be reviewed by your doctor. If they are requiring urgent attention, a member of staff will ring you to come into the practice. If your results are slightly abnormal, you will receive a SMS asking you to book a non-urgent review with your GP. If your results are all fine, you will receive an SMS to inform you so.

If your GP is away on leave, their results will be reviewed by another GP and the same process will apply.

Please ensure that we have your correct contact details. If we are unable to contact you by phone, a registered letter will be sent.
Recalls and Reminders
When your doctor adds a reminder or recall to your profile, our admin team will send you an SMS when the reminder is due. To ensure it is not overlooked, we will also send a reminder one week before the due date, encouraging you to complete the necessary action. This process helps ensure timely follow-ups and continuity of care.
